Clean Drinking Water
From day one, we've lived by the motto: Every bottle of Kombuchery donates drinking water. Together with Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V., we build drinking water and sanitation facilities in Africa. Viva con Agua is an NGO from Hamburg, which we have supported since its founding.
Every bottle helps provide people with long-term access to clean water.
The Climate Pledge
We are proud to be one of the first German members of The Climate Pledge. From raw materials to the finished bottle, we focus on sustainability and resource conservation. That's why we use single-use deposit bottles made from 100% recycled rPET.
This keeps valuable resources in circulation and creates less new plastic.
Organic farming
In all our products, we exclusively use high-quality, organic, vegan ingredients that are regularly certified with the EU organic label. This way, we not only guarantee the best quality but also sustainability in every bottle.

Less Plastic in the Ocean
For every bottle we put into circulation, we work with Plastic Bank to recover plastic from the environment before it can enter the ocean. In this way, we directly contribute to cleaning up our oceans. At the same time, we support local collection structures and create additional income opportunities on site. Why Disposable Bottles?
Sustainable material : We use single-use bottles made from rPET, which is made from used plastic bottles, to conserve resources. This helps reduce waste and lower the demand for new raw materials.
Climate-friendly production : rPET has a better carbon footprint than glass or new plastic bottles because it requires less energy to produce. This helps us minimize the ecological footprint of our packaging and reduce CO₂ emissions.
Circular economy : By using rPET, we actively contribute to the circular economy and reduce CO₂ emissions. By using recycled material, we support the reuse of resources and create a more sustainable packaging system.
Our Deposit Return System
Bottles with deposit for recycling : We use rPET bottles, which you can return after enjoying your kombucha under the DPG single-use deposit system. These bottles bear the single-use deposit symbol and can be returned at deposit machines throughout Germany.
Recycling and resource conservation : After return, the bottles are recycled and reprocessed. This reduces the need for new raw materials and improves the carbon footprint. rPET is more resource-efficient than glass or new plastic bottles.
Together for a sustainable future : By returning the deposit, you help close the loop. The deposit ensures that bottles are reused and waste is reduced, promoting the circular economy and contributing to a more sustainable future.

What does rPET stand for?
rPET stands for 100% recycled PET – in other words, plastic that was already in circulation. Our bottles are lighter, shatterproof, space-saving and fully recyclable – an important step towards a circular economy.
What are the benefits of rPET bottles?
More content, same price: Our rPET bottles now contain 400 ml instead of 330 ml – that's 21% more Kombucha for the same price.
Disposable deposit system: You can return our rPET bottles anywhere that accepts deposit bottles. This makes it simple, convenient, and efficient.
Light & efficient: The new bottle is 90% lighter than glass. This means transport and logistics consume less CO₂ – a win for you and for the environment.
Is there microplastic in the bottles?
Studies show: Reusable glass bottles often contain more microplastics than single-use rPET bottles – due to abrasion during cleaning and refilling. Our bottles are used only once and then recycled – this can reduce microplastics.
We also thought at first: glass bottles are the safer choice. But a test by Öko-Test (July 2021) convinced us otherwise.
"Our hypothesis: The water in the PET bottles will be more contaminated. [...] But: Our investigation largely ignored our hypothesis."
In an investigation of ten mineral water bottles (five PET and five glass each), the water from the glass bottles was on average more contaminated with microplastics.
"In the most contaminated glass bottle, 302 particles were found." and "in a direct comparison from one manufacturer: 302 particles in glass – 38 in PET."
One possible reason: Not the material itself, but processes such as cleaning, filling, or the seals in the lid contribute to the contamination.
"The more often you open and close a bottle, the more microplastics are created."
Our conclusion: rPET single-use bottles perform better than many think when it comes to microplastics – often even better than glass.
At the same time, it is true: It is unfortunately almost impossible to be completely without microplastics today. Plastic is present everywhere in food production – often invisibly, for example in hoses or seals.
Our bottles are light, practical, 100% recyclable – and due to single use, the microplastic content is extremely low.
Is kombucha quality maintained in rPET?
Most importantly, our kombucha remains just as high-quality and natural as you know it. We make no compromises. Every bottle still contains real raw kombucha—unpasteurized, full of active cultures, and with exactly the premium taste you're used to.
